Cancun BG Triathlon World Cup

A Bad Swim Undermines Kathy Tremblay's Hard Work

Montréal, November 4, 2007 (Sportcom) - The waters in the Gulf of Mexico were playing tricks on Kathy Tremblay Sunday at the World Cup Triathlon in Cancun, Mexico. The Montréaler was playing catch up for the rest of the race, and finished 16th, 6 min 23 s behind the winner, American Julie Ertel, who won gold at the Pan American Games.

World Championships - Hamburg (Germany)

Montréal, September 15, 2007 (Sportcom) – Quebec native Kathy Tremblay was forced to withdraw from the World Cup race in Beijing, China, on Saturday, after having crashed into a wall on her bike.

With an injured knee, and exhausted after a particularly difficult swim, Tremblay preferred stopping to check the extent of her injury, rather than jeopardizing her upcoming months of training.

I thought I swam well this morning [Saturday],” said Tremblay. “But I started the bike in the third pack, which is not what I wanted. Our group was very fast, because we caught up with the second group. I still felt good at that time, despite my position.

July 15, 2007 (Sportcom) – Triathlete Kathy Tremblay of Montréal narrowly missed taking a spot on the podium at the Pan American Games being held Rio de Janeiro, finishing fourth right behind fellow Canadian, Lauren Groves, who took home the bronze medal.

April 15, 2007 – Triathlete Kathy Tremblay started the season by ranking 20th at the World Cup race in Ishigaki, Japan. “I swam likee a leader. I was very fast, and I completed the transition in a flash. Once I was on the bike, I rode really well, and many of the girls were unable to hang on. However, I did not have a great run,” said Tremblay.
